‘Every kid in the world has rights no matter where they live, or who they are!’
Partnering with UNICEF, Nexus Studios created the game app ‘Right Runner’. Conceived to help increase children’s awareness of their human rights, Right Runner launched on World Children’s Day and drew inspiration from The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC). This human rights treaty sets out the civil, political, economic, social, health and cultural rights of children.
Players journey through 5 different levels which bring 5 key human rights to life. With a cast of characters and visual and audio palettes that draw on regional elements; Right Runner encourages children to find their voice and join up with friends and other children to raise awareness of the threats they can face day to day within their world.
The game’s aim is to empower children in a relatable, bold and impactful way, maintaining a level of sensitivity on the topic through a truly fun experience. In my role as the UI and graphic designer, I developed a graphic language for the game’s logo, branding and interface that aligned with this intention.
