Exploring the kinaesthetic and visual learning techniques used by dyslexics. A typeface and soft play kit was produced to improve the way that children learn about letter forms. I used my cousin Noah’s handwriting as a starting point and tried to refine the way he uses form in his letters, by dissecting the lines and curves into colour coordinated parts: green for diagonal, red for vertical, blue for horizontal and yellow for curves.
Children are encouraged to learn about letters through play. Soft mats were produced with the background colour being the missing section of the letter. This provides a guide for children to use the soft letter parts to build complete letter forms.
